This course examines the cultures, economics, and politics of food and food systems and the complex relationships among all involved actors. Topics covered will include the socio-cultural constructions of food; consumer movements; food production and distribution systems and development policies; alternative trade initiatives; food security and food sovereignty; producer organizations and transnational agrarian movements.
