The importance of institutions. Productivity, innovation and competition. The effects of population growth and natural resource endowments. Globalisation and inequality. The role of uncertainty and expectations in financial markets, in consumption and investment decisions, in explaining economic fluctuations and in the conduct of monetary and fiscal policies.
