ECH 4210 Conflict and Human Rights Field Research

Intensive field research undertaken under close supervision during the summer semester. Students will visit sites of historic and contemporary importance in conflict and human rights. These will spread across the spectrum of conflict from conventional war (e.g. battlefields) to asymmetric warfare (e.g. sites associated with terrorism and genocide). They will also visit and study sites associated with the development of human rights and significant human rights abuses (e.g. sites connected with slavery, the Holocaust, and the civil rights movement). On return, students will complete a research paper.

Prerequisites: 3 ECH credits and 51 university units. Reserved for students registered in the Baccalaureate with Honours in Conflict Studies and Human Rights.
