Government-business relations are frequently at the heart of the development and implementation of public policies, whether domestic or international. On the one hand, companies seek to influence the development of policies and regulations in ways that are least detrimental to their operations, since they are often responsible for their implementation. On the other hand, governments and international institutions seek to establish rules of the game for the proper functioning of markets and public welfare. This course will therefore look closely at these two dimensions of government-business relations in North America, Europe and elsewhere in the world, as well as in the context of international economic governance.
