Introduction to emerging trends in the discipline as anthropologists shift the focus of their research to the complexities of contemporary life in a more or less globalized world. Examination of new concepts and methodologies used to study a wide range of new topics, such as modern technologies of information and communication (e.g. the Internet), contemporary environmental problems (e.g. climate change, demographic explosions, natural resources rarefaction), biomedicine, cybermilitarisation, and burgeoning urban spaces.
