Overview of the principal methods of statistical analysis and their appropriate use in sociology. Articulation of theory and empirical evidence in the construction of a sociological argument. Critical outlook on the quantification of social phenomena and on the limits of data and methods. Statistical treatment of data: descriptive analysis, bivariate analysis, causality, mediation and multiple linear regression. Introduction to weighting, inference, and evaluation of the quality of estimates. Learning to use statistical software.
