GEO 2352 Geoscience Data Analysis

Introduction to commonly used quantitative methods of data analysis in the geosciences. Review of basic statistics: Types of data and methods of presentation; descriptive statistics; probability and sampling theory; error analysis; statistical tests, linear regression and correlation, spatial statistics. Vector analysis. Experimental design and analysis of variance. Non-parametric statistics. Multivariable analysis. Examples and applications in geology, hydrogeology, and environmental sciences. Offered in alternate years with GEO 2752 .
