This course is an introduction to the study of strategic behaviour of firms in imperfectly competitive markets. Topics covered include measures of market concentration and market power, market definition, mergers, firm entry/exit and entry deterrence, network economics, oligopoly theory, collusion, product differentiation, advertising, spatial competition, transaction costs and the make-or-buy decision, technological change and intellectual property rights, vertical integration and vertical restraints, and regulation.
