General introduction to the cultural anthropology of the Maghreb and the Middle East. The course focuses on the historical and social-cultural heterogeneity of the region and could address a number of the following topics: Islam and religious diversity; the construction of the political; relations with the West; the crises of modernity; women and feminism; Sufism and spirituality.
