Introduction to a wide range of ethnographic writings that vary in style, narrative form, scale, and presence of ethnographer and research participants in the text. Examines how ethnographic conventions have transformed over time, as well as explores contemporary debates about politics and ethics of ethnographic representation. Assignments focus on strengthening students' critical reading skills, as well as on practising ethnographic writing and developing their own ethnographic voice.
